  • 2 medium sweet onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Finely chop onions and mince garlic.
  2. Sauté onions in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown (about 10 minutes); add minced garlic in the last minute.
  3. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, sautéed onions and garlic, breadcrumbs, eggs, beef broth, salt, pepper, thyme, and Worcestershire sauce until just combined.
  4. Fold in shredded Swiss cheese gently.
  5. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the crockpot; pour any remaining broth over it.
  6. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for about 4 hours until fully cooked.
