  • 8 oz spaghetti or linguine
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the pasta in salted water until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Reserve 1/2 cup of cooking water and drain the rest.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until golden brown (about 2 minutes).
  3. Stir in red pepper flakes and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Add drained pasta to the skillet and toss to coat with the garlic oil. Gradually mix in reserved pasta water as needed.
  5. Stir in Parmesan cheese and fresh basil until well combined.
  6. Finish with lemon zest before serving.
