  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 4 soft hoagie rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Wet your hands and form the mixture into meatballs (1 to 1.5 inches).
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear meatballs until browned on all sides (about 5 to 7 minutes).
  4. Pour marinara sauce over the meatballs and simmer covered on low heat for 15 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice sub rolls down the center without cutting all the way through.
  6. Place cooked meatballs in the rolls, top with mozzarella cheese, and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
