  • 2 cups tart cherries (fresh or canned)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs with milk and melted butter until smooth. Gradually combine with dry ingredients.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  5. Slice each cake layer horizontally if desired. Spread whipped cream and cherries between the layers.
  6. Top with remaining whipped cream and chocolate shavings before serving.
