Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup dill pickle slices (drained)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pickles: Drain pickle slices on paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Make the batter: In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt.
  3. Dip pickles: Pour buttermilk into another bowl. Dip each pickle slice in buttermilk, then coat with the dry batter mixture.
  4. Heat oil: In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry pickles: Carefully place battered pickles in hot oil without overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
