Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large sweet onion
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • Cooking spray for air frying
  • Dipping sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the onion by cutting off the top and peeling the outer skin. Slice it into petals without cutting all the way through to keep it intact.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, beat the eggs until fluffy.
  3. Dip the onion first in the flour mixture, then in the egg wash, and finally coat it with panko breadcrumbs for added crunch.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the coated onion gently in the basket and lightly spray with cooking oil.
  5. Air fry for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.
